Accountant

About the Role

Sivasundaram Agro Foods is seeking a full-time, on-site Accountant based in Chennai. This role will handle day-to-day bookkeeping and contribute to strengthening the company's financial foundations as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Recording transactions
• Maintaining ledgers
• Reconciling bank statements
• Preparing financial reports
• Assisting with budgeting and forecasts
• Managing payables and receivables
• Supporting monthly and annual closing activities
• Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
• Coordinating with external auditors
• Collaborating with operations and management to provide financial insights for decision-making and cost control

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Accounting software
• MS Excel or similar spreadsheet tools

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger management and financial reporting
• Ability to manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow tracking
• Knowledge of relevant tax regulations and compliance requirements applicable to businesses in India
• Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
• Professional certifications are an advantage
• Prior experience in manufacturing, food processing, or agribusiness is beneficial but not mandatory
