Software Engineer Intern

About the Role

As a ShopBack intern, you will do real work and deliver real impact. You will ship code that goes to production and is used by millions of members worldwide. You will orchestrate and build with AI agents from day one.

What You'll Own

• Ship real features: Own a scoped project, from design to production, with mentor support.
• Build with AI as a teammate: Use coding agents to move fast, and learn to review, test, and verify their output.
• Make AI tools for others: Build a skill, tool, or agent workflow for your team to use after your internship.
• Measure, don't guess: Write evals and tests to prove the quality of your AI-powered work.

Requirements & Tech Stack

Essentials To Succeed

• Good fundamentals: Ability to write clean code, familiarity with design patterns, understanding of data structures, APIs, and testing.
• Demonstrated building experience outside of class: Side projects, hackathons, open source, or freelance work.
• Applied AI: Experience building apps with an LLM API, custom agents, MCP servers, automating tasks end-to-end, or using simple evals to compare prompts or models.
• Curiosity and skepticism: Question AI answers and verify them.
• Fast learning: Eagerness to learn new things, comfort with not knowing, and ability to ask good questions.
