System Development Engineer

About the Role

You will report to Walt Niblock, Engineering Manager, and work across software, field systems, and internal IT. You will touch everything but own a few projects start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Field Systems: Integrate and troubleshoot truck scales, indicators, cameras, and check-in hardware at pipelines, terminals, aggregate plants, and loadout sites.
• Data & Software:
• Write SQL against Postgres databases.
• Clean operational data and build reports on loads, weights, and throughput.
• Build features and fix bugs in Equator TMS, a React-based platform for dispatch, driver check-in, scale tickets, and BOLs.
• IT & Infrastructure: Support devices, accounts, networking, DNS, and cloud tools across the company.
• Development & Implementation: Assist in the development and field implementation of proprietary technologies and software.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Built something real in JavaScript/React, Python, or SQL (class projects count if you can show them).
• Comfortable transitioning from writing code to troubleshooting hardware and network issues in the field.
• Ability to figure things out without needing step-by-step instructions.
• Valid driver’s license, with occasional travel to field sites.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
