Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
About the Role
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Software Engineer to develop innovative software for the ASD Scorpius linear induction accelerator. This role involves working at the intersection of software, data, controls, and experimental science to create intuitive data-visualization and user-interface capabilities. You will contribute to software that connects data-recall systems, databases, and accelerator controls, transforming technical information into accessible tools for a multi-disciplinary team. This is a full-time, on-site position within the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) of the Engineering Directorate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications and graphical user interfaces for visualization, retrieval, and presentation of engineering and experimental data.
- Implement software features that interface with data sources, databases, APIs, and controls-related software.
- Apply fundamental software engineering concepts, techniques, and practices to solve problems using standard development methodologies.
- Develop software components using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and development tools in accordance with established project requirements and coding practices.
- Implement data-processing and data-recall functionality for efficient access to engineering and experimental information.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and automated tests to verify software functionality and support reliable operation.
- Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, configuration management, documentation, and other software-development lifecycle activities.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, software developers, and project personnel to understand requirements, communicate progress, and integrate software components.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
