About the Role
- Part-time, on-site Freelance Verifier at the Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (QMATH).
- Based in Greater Lansing.
- Focus on reviewing and verifying mathematical and technical materials for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, particularly in quantum theory and related fields.
- Flexible working hours within agreed timelines.
- Verification activities are performed on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and verifying mathematical and technical materials for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
- Checking proofs and calculations.
- Validating references and data sources.
- Ensuring consistent use of terminology and notation.
- Preparing concise verification reports.
- Collaborating with researchers and staff to clarify ambiguities and suggest corrections.
- Supporting high-quality publication and dissemination of research outputs.
Qualifications
- Ability to verify mathematical content, including proofs, calculations, and notation.
- Exposure to quantum theory or related disciplines is ideal.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for assessing logical consistency and rigor of technical documents.
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing verification notes, reports, and feedback.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfort working on-site in Greater Lansing.
- Comfort collaborating constructively with a diverse, interdisciplinary academic team.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, physics, or a closely related field.
- Advanced studies in quantum theory or mathematical physics are an advantage.
- Prior experience in academic editing, peer review, technical verification, or quality assurance of scientific documents is beneficial.
- Commitment to ethical research practices, confidentiality, and inclusive, non-discriminatory collaboration.
