Civil Field Engineering/CEI Inspector

About the Role

RS&H's Transportation Construction Management team is seeking a Civil Field Engineer / CEI Inspector in Texas. This role involves monitoring contractor on-site construction activities and inspecting materials for road and bridge construction projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed records of contractor's daily operations, including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events impacting work.
• Monitor work zone traffic control plans and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
• Monitor erosion control plans and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
• Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work.
• Verify dimensions of prepared and completed work.
• Inspect construction work and conduct field tests.
• Track and measure completed work quantities for payment.
• Perform survey checks.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods, under various outside conditions.
• Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically.
• Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in the specified time frames.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or visa transfer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship or related experience.
• EIT Certification.
• DOT Certifications.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
