About the Role
Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their growing southeast engineering team. This role involves participating in and contributing to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in a team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to Industrial & Commercial Land Development, Solar, Mining, and other engineering projects. This position will be based in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision and working with experienced staff, you will complete civil engineering designs and the generation of construction plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports in the following areas:
- Utilize Civil 3D including alignments, profiles, and grading features to produce engineered construction plans and sheet set ups.
- Develop engineering designs in conjunction with civil engineers and project leaders.
- Follow project schedules and allotted hours.
- Follow internal and/or client procedures and standards.
- Evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges.
- Perform site visits to scope jobs and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- AutoCAD (Basic knowledge and experience required)
- Civil 3D (Proficiency preferred)
- Civil 3D (Alignments, profiles, grading features)
- Site Grading & Storm Drainage (Basic understanding)
- Erosion and Sediment Control (Basic understanding)
- Storm Water Best Management Practices (Basic understanding)
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent.
- 0-3 years of experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others.
- Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.
- Strong desire to learn and an interest in civil engineering design.
