Mechanical Engineer
DeZURIK
About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level) supports the research, design, development, improvement, and validation of mechanical products, components, systems, and processes. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations, this role applies fundamental mechanical engineering principles to defined tasks and portions of larger projects under close supervision, following established procedures, policies, and engineering standards to support product performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop mechanical and electromechanical products, components, tools, machines, and systems using established engineering principles.
- Support product development activities including concept generation, prototype development, testing, validation, and design refinement.
- Assist in the development or modification of new and existing products, including product line extensions and customer-requested designs.
- Apply standardized engineering methods to select, evaluate, and test materials, components, and assemblies for suitability, performance, and reliability.
- Participate in the preparation and review of engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and test or validation plans.
- Utilize CAD/CAE tools to model designs and produce detailed engineering documentation.
- Support manufacturing and operations by ensuring designs meet quality, cost, safety, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Evaluate product or system performance and assist in identifying design improvements or corrective actions to resolve issues or inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other engineering disciplines to support product and process objectives.
- Follow established engineering procedures and quality standards while documenting work to ensure traceability, repeatability, and compliance.
- Receive technical guidance from more senior engineers and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Foundational understanding of mechanical engineering theories, principles, and practices.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical product design, system development, and engineering documentation standards.
- Basic awareness of how ERP systems work.
- Ability to apply engineering concepts to routine or well-defined problems using established procedures.
- Familiarity with CAD or CAE tools for modeling, drafting, and design documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing dimensions, tolerances and datums, including GD&T and basic tolerance stack up analysis, and specifications.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and product testing methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for standard engineering issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and receive direction from senior engineers.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation discipline.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
- 0–2 years of related drafting or design experience, including internships or co-op experience.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Physical demands are typical of an office position, including extended periods of sitting, and extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
- Factory floor support is imperative.
- Physical requirements include testing in the engineering lab, field service activities, or handling component parts in the plant.
- Must be able to see and move throughout the plant to resolve work problems and facilitate processes.
- Occasional handling of material and components.
- May have contact with caustic substances in some areas of the plant.
- Must be able to tolerate long hours in a shop environment and support after-hours business needs.
- Travel for the company, including both domestic and international travel, may be required.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds independently.
- Normal manufacturing and office environment.
- When working in shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required.
- Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
