Contractual Life Sciences Copyediting Reviewer

About the Role

Cactus Communications is seeking Copyediting Reviewers on a contractual, work-from-home basis. This is a renewable agreement offering regular work for a predictable schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Review manuscripts copy-edited by other editors to ensure adherence to journal language and style requirements.
• Critically assess edit quality for alignment with journal expectations.
• Provide constructive feedback, flag inconsistencies or errors, and perform corrective edits.
• Perform in-depth language editing to ensure clear, concise, and grammatically correct scientific English, preserving original meaning and scientific accuracy.
• Ensure manuscript conformity to journal style requirements.
• Apply journal- or publisher-specific guidelines for formatting, structure, terminology, and referencing.
• Ensure uniformity and consistency in style across all manuscript sections.
• Share feedback with editors for continuous improvement.
• Offer constructive, actionable feedback highlighting strengths and suggesting improvements.
• Engage in knowledge-sharing to help editors refine skills and align with journal expectations.

Qualifications and Prerequisites

• A degree (minimum bachelor's) in Medicine and Life Sciences.
• Experience in editing in any form.
• Proficiency in using MS Word, specifically Track Changes and styling options.
• Familiarity with the AMA style guide (preferred).
