System Development Engineer, AFT

About the Role

The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies team is looking for a System Development Engineer to manage all aspects of mission-critical services. This role involves innovating, automating, driving process and service improvements, and managing highly available systems that power Amazon's global fulfillment network. You will help drive strategic initiatives within the AFT team, focusing on designing and developing highly scalable and highly available systems. You will also partner with product, science, and operations stakeholders to deliver critical new features and products.

About The Team

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network by inventing and delivering software, hardware, and data science solutions. The Platform Engineering and Services team under AFT supports business and regional operations by setting up necessary technology services for new fulfillment buildings.

Key Responsibilities

• Interface with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes.
• Monitor and maintain systems performance & capacity planning using metrics.
• Work on expansions of current applications to support new launches.
• Address customer issues to identify problems and develop solutions to avoid recurrence by addressing root causes.
• Create processes and systems to drive efficiencies and quality.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• 1+ years of systems development experience.
• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.

Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language.
