About the Role

BJ’s Wholesale Club is powered by over 30,000 team members. This role processes Member purchases, verifies/renews/upgrades memberships, scans merchandise, and accepts payments. The position provides excellent member service efficiently and productively, while maintaining the cleanliness of the front-line department. This is a part-time role, working Thursday through Sunday between 1pm-close.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Verify, renew, upgrade, and offer various membership products.
• Scan merchandise and accept various forms of payments.
• Provide excellent member service efficiently and productively.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the front-line department.
• Carry out assigned job functions and responsibilities.
• Support the application of club policies, procedures, and compliance.
• Act with honesty and integrity, leading with the member in mind to address and escalate concerns.
• Ensure a safe and positive environment for members and team members.
• Work collaboratively and with respect to achieve team goals.
• Deliver service excellence through all points of contact.
• Resolve and deescalate to address member concerns.
• Greet, Anticipate, and Appreciate (GAA) members.
• Work to deliver GOLD club standards daily, including maintaining a "Grand opening look."
• Ensure all items are stocked and promotional plans are executed.
• Maintain visible and accurate signage.
• Keep the club clean and organized, inside and out.
• Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for your department.
• Exhibit clear understanding of all BJ’s Membership options, including the importance of renewals and upgrades to BJ’s Loyalty programs.
• Offer all appropriate membership products, including membership renewal, EASY renewal option, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Check Members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan all club merchandise through a point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments via cash, check, or other charge payments.
• Issue receipts or change due to Members.
• Stay up-to-date on all merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Discount purchases by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the frontline area.
• Assist in general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return re-sellable merchandise to the sales floor area.
• Manage self-checkout and scan and pan lanes.
• Assist Members with operations and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, and full attendance.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.

Environmental Job Conditions

• Moving about frequently on hard surfaces.
• Occasional need to position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
• Frequently requires lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
• May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Comfortable indoor area with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises.
• Occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
