About the Role

Amia.ai is seeking a motivated Junior AI Engineer / AI Support Engineer to support the development, testing, and improvement of AI-powered products and workflows. This entry-level position is suited to recent graduates and early-career professionals who want hands-on experience with AI, automation, software development, and life sciences technology. Working onsite with the team in San Diego, you will help validate AI outputs, troubleshoot technical issues, document workflows, and support internal and client-facing projects. You will work closely with senior team members, contribute to technical tasks, and participate in calls to help capture requirements and resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, testing, and improvement of AI-enabled workflows, copilots, and automation tools.
• Assist with prompt testing, AI output validation, workflow quality assurance, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot basic technical issues involving AI tools, web applications, APIs, and internal systems.
• Participate in internal and client-facing calls to record requirements, technical notes, issues, and follow-up actions.
• Collaborate with senior team members to translate business needs into technical tasks.
• Research AI tools, large language model capabilities, automation methods, and emerging technical approaches.
• Assist with data preparation, test datasets, and quality reviews of AI-generated outputs.
• Document processes, bugs, product feedback, and potential improvements.
• Maintain organized project notes, technical documentation, and task tracking.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Recent graduate or early-career candidate with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of AI, machine learning, large language models, or software development.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, or another programming language.
• Familiarity with APIs, GitHub, technical documentation, and modern development tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn quickly.
• Comfort participating in calls with team members, clients, and partners.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Must be based in the San Diego area and able to work onsite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, OpenAI API, LangChain, vector databases, or prompt engineering.
• Exposure to healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, regulatory processes, or medical technology.
• Basic frontend or backend development experience.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Notion, Jira, Airtable, Slack, or similar project management tools.
• Interest in AI governance, compliance, healthcare workflows, or regulated industries.

They should be comfortable asking questions, learning new tools, and supporting both engineering tasks and client-facing activities. Location and Work Arrangement

• San Diego, California.
• This is an onsite position and is not available remotely.
• Local candidates are required, with preference for candidates in Carlsbad or La Jolla.

Salary and Compensation

• Hourly pay: $20.
