Junior Software Developer

About the Role

Join a growing team supporting customer missions as a Junior Software Developer. This role is hybrid, onsite in Vienna, VA and Chantilly, VA with up to 3 days remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn to translate business problems into software solutions under the guidance of senior developers.
• Write code solutions that adhere to customer security and requirements.
• Support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software systems in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensure compliance with software design, development, testing, integration, and sustainment standards.
• Research technology solutions and assist in resolving issues based on customer and business requirements.
• Ensure that products are designed and developed for scalability, robustness, maintainability, and interoperability.
• Learn and apply Development Best Practices through mentorship and training.
• Collaborate with team members and seek ways to grow technical skills.
• Participate actively in code reviews and team learning activities.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• 0-2+ years of experience with full-stack software development leveraging one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Groovy, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Node).
• Strong understanding of database foundations (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) to include basic understanding of relational database design principles (e.g. Normalization vs Denormalization) and general knowledge of database administration concepts (e.g. users, schemas, constraints).
• Basic understanding or some experience working with multimedia streaming technologies and video processing workflows (encoding, transcoding, clipping).
• Basic understanding or some experience with API design and implementation.
• Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (additional experience may be substituted for education).

Desired Qualifications

• Basic understanding or some experience working with Content Management Systems such as CrafterCMS.
• Understanding and some experience working with a Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural design pattern.
• Experience working with Java for backend development.
• Experience working with JavaScript and TypeScript for frontend development.
• Experience with Cloud Providers, preferably AWS.

TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
