Platform Engineer (W2 ONLY And Pacific Hours)

About the Role

This is a 6-12 month contract position. The role focuses on modernizing and extending internal informatics applications, including a web dashboard and background services that connect internal and external systems for instructional operations. The emphasis is on cloud and edge services, clean integrations, moving work to a managed edge platform, building new full-stack tools, and integrating third-party services and internal data. You will work directly with technical and business owners against live systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and operate cloud edge services: establish a replicable, organization-owned Cloudflare Workers + Access pattern and migrate existing services.
• Build new full-stack systems: develop a GUI and SQL backend for managing Dual Enrollment course data.
• Build connective tissue between systems: integrate third-party cloud platforms and embed components into other platforms.
• Harden and extend web applications: manage SQL schema and migrations, CI/CD, and security/dependency hygiene on a live Next.js application.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Cloud & edge services: Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare Access, and comparable AWS/Azure/GCP edge experience.
• Database: Prisma / Prisma Migrate on SQL Server (multi-schema).
• Browser automation: Playwright and Puppeteer.
• Testing: Vitest.
• Comfortable in an AI-assisted, spec-driven workflow (e.g., Claude Code / agentic tooling).

Qualifications

• Work experience in a Platform Engineer capacity.
• Experience working with live systems and daily use applications.
• Ability to work directly with technical and business owners.
