About the Role
Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join its growing southeast engineering team. The role involves participating in and contributing to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in a team-oriented environment. The position is based in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete civil engineering designs under supervision.
- Generate construction plans and specifications.
- Perform technical calculations, exhibits, and reports.
- Utilize Civil 3D including alignments, profiles, and grading features to produce engineered construction plans and sheet setups.
- Develop engineering designs in conjunction with civil engineers and project leaders.
- Evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges.
- Perform site visits to scope jobs and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
- Follow project schedules and allotted hours.
- Follow internal and/or client procedures and standards.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Basic understanding of Site Grading & Storm Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control, and Storm Water Best Management Practices.
- Basic knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others.
- Ability to work independently and with team members as a self-starter.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred.
