About the Role
HDR is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Inspector to join our North Carolina Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This role involves performing construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects, adhering to NCDOT policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction engineering and inspection duties.
- Conduct materials testing.
- Perform construction observation.
- Prepare and submit reports.
- Learn to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within construction documents.
- Enforce contract documents.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
- Must pass drug-screening procedures prior to hire; subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications
- NCDOT experience.
- Tech school degree.
- Local candidates are preferred.
