About the Role

As a Durability Development Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of data, simulation, and physical testing, playing a critical role in defining and achieving structural and fatigue targets for next-generation vehicle platforms. You will decode real-world customer usage into engineering targets. You will own and drive the entire process of loads developments: from defining problem statements and requirements all the way to deployment for designing and testing. The quality of your understanding and processing of data into develop meaningful loads will be critical to success. You will collaborate across engineering functions to predict structural behavior and accelerate vehicle development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand product and customer usage requirements, supported by data analytics from vehicle testing and customer insights.
  • Process large datasets in conjunction with strong first-principles engineering skills to extract loads and requirements across the entire vehicle or vehicle systems.
  • Derive those into deployable loads and test profiles in alignment with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful deployments and execution for designing & testing.
  • Build, automate, and maintain robust analytical data pipelines and signal processing workflows to ingest, clean, and interpret large datasets.
  • Build fast, scalable, and automated tools and algorithms.
  • Aid loads developments using both test data and simulation tools, performing some simulations with MBD tools.
  • Use data analytics and develop tools to unlock Analysis' team model correlations and improve the team's predictive capabilities.
  • Continuously drive improvements thanks to field learning in closing the loop on loads development work.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • High agency and ownership: Proven ability to operate in ambiguity, define problem statements independently, and drive engineering solutions to completion.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including fatigue of materials, structural dynamics, vibrations, and mechanics of materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming and numerical analysis (Python, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, or equivalent) for processing large-scale time-series datasets.
  • Strong background in digital signal processing (filtering, spectral analysis, FFT, PSD, rainflow counting, and damage equivalent load calculations).
  • Experience with vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and dynamic road load data analysis (RLDA).
  • Relentless curiosity and sharp physical intuition for diagnosing physical vehicle behavior from test data.
  • Strong technical communication skills to translate complex analytical findings into design constraints for cross-functional engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • None explicitly listed beyond the "Requirements & Tech Stack."

Expected Compensation: $91,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
