About the Role
Hiredbuddy is seeking an entry-level Data Engineer to join our remote team. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about building robust data infrastructure and supporting data-driven initiatives. You will work closely with senior engineers, data scientists, and business analysts, gaining hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes
- Write and optimize SQL queries
- Develop Python scripts for data cleaning and transformation
- Design and maintain data schemas
- Assist with the implementation of data quality checks
- Document pipeline logic and data lineage
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements
- Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines
- Ensure data quality
- Support analytics initiatives
- Contribute to the maintenance of our data warehouse
- Participate in code reviews
- Collaborate on data modeling decisions
- Help optimize pipeline performance
- Troubleshoot issues
- Monitor data quality
- Implement best practices for data governance and security
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Proficiency in SQL (writing complex queries, joins, aggregations)
- Basic to intermediate Python programming skills
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database concepts
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and command-line tools
- Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) - Nice to have
- Data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) - Nice to have
- Orchestration tools (Airflow, Luigi, dbt) - Nice to have
- Apache Airflow - Mentioned for workflow orchestration
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a related field
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- A strong foundation in SQL and Python is essential
- A basic understanding of data modeling and database concepts
- Curiosity, proactivity, and eagerness to learn
- A problem-solving mindset and willingness to take ownership of your work
