Power BI Developer, BI & Reporting

About the Role

The emphasis is on strong BI and reporting delivery, advanced SQL, validation and reconciliation, Databricks/Snowflake integration, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Power BI reports, including data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, and deployment support.
• Write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries across large datasets on platforms such as Oracle, Snowflake, and SQL Server.
• Support reporting lifecycle activities, including requirements review, development, validation, defect resolution, stage testing, and production deployment.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis for report outputs and row counts.
• Support dashboards and operational reporting used by business stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot issues independently, including diagnosing query errors, connection failures, and data mismatches.
• Take ownership of assigned deliverables and provide proactive updates.
• Work through ambiguity and ask thoughtful questions when requirements are unclear.
• Follow through on commitments, timelines, documentation, and deployment readiness tasks.
• Write clear notes and comments for documentation.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Power BI development experience.
• SQL skills.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, or similar cloud/data warehouse environments.
• Experience with Power BI paginated reports (Report Builder), including dataset parameter configuration, ODBC data source setup, and Power BI Gateway troubleshooting.
• Understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and common failure modes (e.g., incremental loads missing upstream changes).
• Experience supporting dashboards and operational reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI development, including report building, data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, and deployment support.
• Solid SQL skills, including the ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex queries across large datasets, across platforms such as Oracle, Snowflake, and SQL Server.
• Experience working with enterprise data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, or similar cloud/data warehouse environments.
• Experience with Power BI paginated reports (Report Builder) specifically, including dataset parameter configuration, ODBC data source setup, and Power BI Gateway troubleshooting — not just Power BI Desktop dashboards.
• Ability to support reporting lifecycle activities, including requirements review, development, validation, defect resolution, stage testing, and production deployment.
• Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis when report outputs or row counts do not align with expectations, including familiarity with CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and common failure modes (e.g., incremental loads missing upstream changes).
• Experience supporting dashboards and operational reporting used by business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to clearly summarize status, risks, blockers, and next steps.
• Comfortable participating in daily standups, requirement discussions, defect triage, and deployment coordination.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams.

Familiarity with semantic layers, reusable datasets, curated reporting tables, and scalable BI architecture is preferred.

Prior experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, financial reporting, rebate reporting, or operational analytics would be a plus.

Exposure to AI-enabled analytics, Databricks Genie, metrics layers, or modern BI enablement would be a strong plus.

Experience working in an offshore delivery model with U.S.-based stakeholders is preferred.
