NGL Associate Accountant

About the Role

The NGL Associate Accounting group is part of the R&M Operations Accounting department within the Controller’s organization. This group handles the accounting for purchases and sales of NGLs, as well as the associated inventory reconciliations. This position will work closely with traders and schedulers, yield accounting personnel, and various other support organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with traders and schedulers to ensure all purchases and sales by various modes of transportation are recorded, matched, and distributed.
• Ensure timely payment of product purchases by investigating and resolving vendor invoice discrepancies.
• Reconcile inventory balances at assigned locations, working closely with MPC and third-party business partners to investigate discrepancies.
• Collect, compile, analyze, and verify financial and other data to ensure the integrity of accounting records.
• Assist with analysis and schedules in support of financial statements.
• Create and record journal entries and/or other transactions directly or indirectly impacting the financials, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile accounts.
• Ensure the integrity of financial transactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Support accounting processes by addressing and assisting with fulfilling business requirements.
• Support and follow standard business processes within specific accounting functions.
• Support and fulfill internal and external audit requests.
• Ensure proper execution of controls, performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.
• Utilize systems/tools, which may include, but not limited to, Excel, SAP, Right Angle, BW, Quorum, etc.
• May document, update, and maintain internal procedures or work on simple special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 0 - 1 years of accounting/finance experience.
