About U.Labs

U.Labs is a Mumbai-based venture studio that builds, scales, and invests in the next generation of businesses. We operate as strategic co-builders, combining business strategy, technology, AI, brand, and growth to help founders and companies move from idea to execution at speed.

About The Role

This role is for someone studying engineering, or a recent engineering graduate, with a deep interest in marketing, consumer behaviour, and understanding online decision-making. You enjoy working with data to understand the "why" behind marketing performance. This is not a traditional analyst or social media management internship focused solely on posting content, running campaigns, and reporting impressions. You will collaborate directly with founders and the marketing team to analyze customer behaviour, content and acquisition data, identify patterns, form hypotheses, and translate insights into improved marketing strategies.

Potential Projects Include Questions Such As

  • What influences users to stop scrolling and engage with content?
  • Which hooks, formats, topics, and narratives consistently perform best?
  • How do social algorithms influence content distribution?
  • What content should be prioritized for creation, and what should be discontinued?
  • What factors contribute to a lower cost per lead in advertising campaigns?
  • Which combinations of audience, platform, and message effectively drive business outcomes?
  • What are customers discussing, searching for, and reacting to within our markets?
  • What can be learned from competitors, creators, and emerging cultural behaviours?

The core objective is to identify patterns in user behaviour and leverage them to inform strategic decisions.

What You’ll Do

Content & Social Behaviour Analysis

  • Analyze content performance across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, X, and other relevant platforms.
  • Study patterns in hooks, formats, topics, narratives, retention, engagement, and distribution.
  • Identify reasons behind content underperformance and outperformance.
  • Track changes in platform algorithms, content formats, and audience behaviour.
  • Analyze competitors, creators, and brands to understand attention-grabbing strategies and their underlying causes.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations for content themes, hooks, formats, and creative direction.
  • Assist in developing repeatable frameworks for content creation, testing, and distribution.

Paid Media & Performance Marketing

  • Manage and execute campaigns across Meta Ads, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and other relevant platforms.
  • Set up campaigns, audiences, creatives, tracking, and experiments.
  • Monitor spend, performance, and conversion metrics.
  • Analyze CAC, CPL, CTR, CPC, conversion rates, and other key metrics.
  • Identify creatives, messages, audiences, and channels that drive results.
  • Conduct structured experiments across creative, targeting, messaging, and landing pages.
  • Build regular performance reports and recommend budget allocations.

Marketing Analytics & Consumer Behaviour

  • Analyze the complete user journey from impression and click to lead, conversion, and revenue.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting systems across marketing channels.
  • Identify patterns in customer behaviour across various audiences, categories, and platforms.
  • Study funnel drop-offs and identify conversion improvement opportunities.
  • Connect qualitative behaviour with quantitative performance data.
  • Distill large volumes of marketing data into clear, actionable conclusions.

Market & Customer Research

  • Conduct research across markets, competitors, customers, categories, and emerging trends.
  • Analyze customer conversations, reviews, communities, search behaviour, and social discussions to identify pain points and motivations.
  • Identify new audience segments, positioning opportunities, and emerging consumer behaviour.
  • Transform fragmented information into clear insights for marketing, product, and business decisions.

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in engineering, computer science, or another technical discipline.
  • Deeply interested in marketing, consumer psychology, internet culture, and decision-making processes.
  • Naturally analytical, with a comfort for identifying patterns in large datasets.
  • Curious about content virality and social platform distribution mechanisms.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, dashboards, and datasets.
  • Capable of forming hypotheses, testing them, and adapting based on data.
  • Strong research skills for unfamiliar topics, translating information into clear conclusions.
  • Proficient with tools like Excel / Google Sheets; experience with SQL or other analytical tools is ideal.
  • Extremely comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar for research and analysis.
  • Strong written communication skills, able to explain insights clearly without jargon.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and self-directed problem-solving.

Key Attributes
