About the Role
HDR is looking for an Entry Level Construction Inspector to join our South Carolina Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This role will perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects, utilizing SCDOT policies and procedures. Work will include materials testing, construction observation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects.
- Utilize SCDOT policies and procedures.
- Conduct materials testing.
- Perform construction observation.
- Generate reports.
- Be trained to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within construction documents.
- Enforce contract documents.
- Night and / or weekend work may be required as dictated by client project needs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
- Passing drug-screening procedures is required prior to hire, with subsequent random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications
- SCDOT experience.
- Tech school degree.
- Ability to travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
- Local candidates are preferred.
