About the Role

You’ll join the Hardware Integration team and work hands-on with the hardware behind our autonomous vehicle fleet. You’ll build and maintain our test benches, debug electrical issues across the fleet, and help bring up new hardware alongside our engineering teams and suppliers. This role is primarily based in Humble Robotics’ San Francisco office, 5 days a week, fostering a collaborative and generative atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain test benches for system integration and new hardware bring-up, ensuring wiring, configuration, documentation, and change logs are up to date.
  • Bring up new hardware and troubleshoot electrical issues on the bench and across the vehicle fleet, from initial power-on through testing and validation.
  • Write scripts and small tools in Python or other languages to test, troubleshoot, and automate bench and vehicle checks.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and supplier companies on hardware development and troubleshooting, and implement engineering changes.
  • Build, test, and repair low-voltage and high-voltage harnesses and electrical boards, including hi-pot testing, and support their design and design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Adhere to high-voltage and lockout/tagout safety practices and maintain lab and garage organization.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Hands-on electrical skills: proficient with DMM, oscilloscope, and bench power supply; ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams; crimping and soldering.
  • Basic understanding of 12/24V and high-voltage systems and CAN bus.
  • Basic programming skills in Python or other languages.
  • Comfortable working on vehicles, in the lab, and in the field, including lifting up to 50 lb.
  • Willingness to be trained for high-voltage work.
  • Clear communication and attention to detail.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (including internships, projects, and student teams like Formula SAE or robotics).

Bonus Points

  • Experience with high-voltage systems or battery packs.
  • Experience building, testing, or designing harnesses or electrical boards (e.g., hi-pot testing, harness CAD, design for manufacturing).
  • Experience using code to automate tests or analyze test data.
  • Familiarity with CAN tools (PCAN, SavvyCAN), Linux, and the command line.
