About the Role
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company. Waymo's Systems Engineering team is looking for talented teammates who'll help us maintain strong teamwork and are passionate about driving results. The SysEng Commercialization team is responsible for ensuring that our depot operations scale efficiently and reliably. Waymo interns partner with leaders in the industry on projects that create impact to the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize low-latency data pipelines using C++ and SQL to ingest and structure real-time depot telemetry.
- Develop a modern, responsive frontend dashboard that visualizes operations data, prioritizing a seamless user experience for operations staff.
- Collaborate directly with triage engineers and ops staff to gather requirements, iterate on designs, and ensure the tool meets ground-level situational awareness needs.
- Write robust, maintainable code with a strong emphasis on test-driven development, integration testing, and team code reviews.

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated capability in conceptualizing and writing efficient data transformation pipelines (C++/SQL).
- Experience converting backend data streams into actionable, user-centric visualizations.
- Strong grasp of integration testing and ensuring reliability in critical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or coursework related to data streaming, distributed systems, or low-latency data processing.
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles centered around data visualization and operational oversight.
- Prior experience working closely with end-users to collect requirements and iterate on product features.
Note: This will be a hybrid onsite internship position.
