About the Role
We’re looking for a science teacher who builds things. You’ll lead small groups of students in Grades 6–11 through hands-on projects. They’ll design, build, test and fix working machines, and learn the science behind why those machines work or fail.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach core science concepts through builds: sensors, circuits, forces, friction, gears, and control logic.
- Guide students to build working devices such as alarms, smart sensors, and vehicles, and help them work out why a build failed.
- Introduce programming (if/then logic, thresholds) and AI concepts, pitched to each student’s grade.
- Take older students further, into CAD design, simulation, and more open-ended engineering problems.
- Run fair-test investigations: change one variable, measure the result, use the data.
- Assess students’ skills against a simple rubric and give clear, encouraging feedback.
- Help students present their work confidently to an audience, including parents.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Hands-on experience building machines or prototypes, such as robotics, electronics or mechanical builds.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks); CFD experience is a plus.
- Excellent spoken and written English; able to explain complex ideas simply.
- Patience with failure, and the ability to let students struggle productively instead of handing them answers.
Qualifications
- A degree in science or engineering (Physics, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics or similar).
- Experience teaching or mentoring school children aged 11–17.
- Good to have: Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32 or similar).
- Good to have: Experience with robotics and science competitions (Samsung Solve for India, Atal Tinkering Labs, INSPIRE-MANAK).
