About the Role
Zurich is seeking an RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I for its Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team in Virginia. This role is home-based and requires approximately 50% travel within the specified territory. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- With minimal supervision, complete field inspections, read maps and aerial photos, measure fields and storage bins.
- Discuss findings of crop loss with farmers on complex, non-routine, and problematic claims.
- Convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry professionals.
- Perform fact-finding regarding crop damage, record information, and transmit loss data to determine potential indemnities.
- Gather relevant facts, utilize applicable law, and establish basic principles of negligence.
- Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Contribute to team efforts and participate on projects as needed.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area.
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) Certification (must be obtained within 180 days of hire).
- Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel within territory.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles.
- Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster (preferred).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (preferred).
- Strong organization and prioritization skills (preferred).
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (preferred).
- Agricultural Experience (preferred).
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $22.40 - $30.87
- Short-term incentive bonus: 5%
