Software Development Engineer
Storable
About the Role
Software Development Engineers build the products and platforms that help Storable’s customers manage their businesses, serve their customers, and grow revenue. As an L4 engineer, you contribute within a product or platform team, take ownership of well-defined problems, and build a strong foundation in software design, delivery, and operations. You will work closely with teammates, Product, Design, and partner functions to turn requirements into reliable software. You will learn Storable’s systems and domain, use AI tools to improve the quality and speed of your work, and grow your ability to make sound technical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver well-scoped product and platform changes from design through implementation, testing, release, and support.
- Write clear, maintainable, and secure code that follows team standards and established patterns.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement activities.
- Build and maintain APIs, services, user-facing features, data workflows, or operational tooling within your team’s domain.
- Investigate defects and production issues, communicate findings clearly, and implement durable fixes.
- Add meaningful tests, monitoring, and documentation so your work is reliable and easy for teammates to operate.
- Collaborate with Product and partner teams to clarify requirements and deliver useful outcomes for customers.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve research, implementation, testing, documentation, and output quality.
- Learn the customer and business context behind your work and use that context to make practical engineering tradeoffs.
- Share knowledge with teammates and seek feedback through reviews, pairing, and technical discussions.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Experience building software through coursework, internships, professional work, or equivalent hands-on projects.
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language and the fundamentals of data structures, algorithms, APIs, testing, and version control.
- Ability to break down a problem, communicate progress, ask for help early, and deliver reliably within a team.
- Care for software quality, security, observability, and the experience of the customers who use your work.
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar systems, tools, and business domains and apply feedback to improve your engineering practice.
- Familiarity with AI tools or an AI-forward mindset, with interest in using AI to improve productivity and output quality.
Bonus Points
- Experience operating software in a cloud environment or contributing to production services.
- Experience with relational or non-relational databases, event-driven systems, or distributed application patterns.
- Experience with frontend development, mobile applications, data pipelines, or developer tooling.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, or debugging tools.
- Contributions to open-source projects, technical communities, hackathons, or other collaborative software projects.
