Key Responsibilities

• Processes Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Verifies, renews, upgrades, and offers various membership products.
• Scans merchandise.
• Accepts various forms of payments.
• Provides excellent member service efficiently and productively.
• Maintains the overall cleanliness of the front-line department.
• Supports the application of club policies, procedures, and compliance.
• Acts with honesty and integrity, leading with the member in mind.
• Addresses member concerns and escalates them as appropriate.
• Ensures a safe and positive environment for members and team members.
• Works collaboratively with respect to embrace inclusion and diversity.
• Works as a team to achieve goals.
• Exhibits clear understanding of all BJ’s Membership options, including the importance of renewals and upgrading to BJ’s Loyalty programs.
• Offers appropriate membership products such as membership renewal, EASY renewal option, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Checks Members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Fills shopping carts and assists at self-checkout stations.
• Issues receipts or change to Members.
• Stays up to date on all merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Discounts purchases by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Returns re-sellable merchandise to the sales floor area.
• Manages self-checkout and scan and pan lanes.
• Assists Members with operations and technical difficulties.
• Meets cashier productivity expectations.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintains regular, predictable, full attendance.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Point-of-sale (POS) system
• Cash handling
• Basic math skills

Qualifications

• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.
• Familiarity with AI tools, including ChatGPT, is recognized.

Environmental Job Conditions

• Frequently moving about on hard surfaces.
• Occasional need to position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
• Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds.
• May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects greater than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Comfortable indoor area with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises.
• Occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
