About the Role

Position Summary

The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for providing information, processing referrals, and coordinating the delivery of medical equipment. This entails coordinating patient events from receipt of referral to end of care, including:

• Collection of patient demographic and insurance information
• Conducting prior authorizations
• Scheduling clinical visits
• Verifying delivery of equipment
• Re-certification of care
• Satisfaction surveys
• All other patient access points

The Representative serves as a liaison between the patient, physician, insurance company, and other healthcare providers. The Representative is responsible to assure complete and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education / Training / Experience

• One year experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills
• Six months experience in a health care or related setting performing tasks such as:
• Patient registration
• Insurance verification
• Medical billing
• Patient DME education
• Handling of DME equipment

Desired

• Knowledge of regulations regarding DME equipment (including oxygen and sleep equipment and service)
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Previous home medical equipment billing experience or related experience
• ICD-10 Coding knowledge
