AI Automation Engineer

About the Role

We're hiring a full-time AI Automation Expert to design, build, and maintain AI-powered systems across a fast-growing digital marketing agency. This is a builder role with real ownership, focused on automating repetitive work to allow the team to focus on strategy, creativity, and clients. You will scope problems with team leads, ship working solutions quickly, and document them for team use.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit workflows across support, sales, and customer success, identifying high-impact automation opportunities.
• Design, build, test, and deploy AI automations using Claude Code and Grok (xAI).
• Integrate AI systems with tools like Monday.com, Go High Level, email, call recording, calendar, and lead data platforms.
• Build reliable, monitored, and easy-to-update prompts, agents, and workflows.
• Write clear documentation and train team members.
• Track results (time saved, response times, leads generated) and iterate based on feedback.
• Handle client and company data securely and responsibly.
• Stay current on new AI tools and recommend those worth adopting.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proven hands-on experience building with Claude Code and the Grok (xAI) API. Real projects required.
• 2+ years building automations, integrations, or software, ideally for business operations.
• Strong skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON.
• Experience integrating with CRMs or work management platforms.
• Solid prompt engineering and experience building AI agents or multi-step workflows.
• Ability to take a loosely defined business problem and turn it into a working, documented solution.
• Clear written and spoken English, comfortable explaining technical work to non-technical teammates.
• Available to work 9am-5pm Eastern Time, Monday to Friday.

Nice to Have

• Experience at or with a digital marketing agency.
• Familiarity with automation platforms such as Make, Zapier, or n8n.
• Experience with call recording and transcription tools (e.g., Fathom) or speech-to-text APIs.
• Experience with lead enrichment and scraping tools (e.g., Apollo, Clay) and an understanding of data privacy rules.
• Experience with helpdesk platforms or building ticketing systems.

Compensation & Hours

• Pay: $1,500 - $2,500 USD per month, based on experience.
• Hours: Full-time, 9am-5pm Eastern Time (EST/EDT), Monday-Friday.
• Location: Remote.

Hiring Process

• Application review: Review of application and portfolio of AI automation work.
• Intro call (30 min): Conversation about background, tools, and approach to automation.
• Technical interview (30 min): Walkthrough of a past project built with Claude Code or Grok.
• Paid final project (top 3 candidates): Build a working AI support ticketing system prototype.
• Final review and offer: Project presentation and selection.
