About the Role
HDR is seeking an Entry Level Construction Inspector to join the North Carolina Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This role will perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects, utilizing NCDOT policies and procedures. The work involves materials testing, construction observation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction engineering and inspection duties.
- Conduct materials testing.
- Observe construction activities.
- Prepare reports.
- Learn to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within construction documents.
- Enforce contract documents.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
- Subject to drug-screening procedures prior to hire, and thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
Qualifications
- NCDOT experience.
- Tech school degree.
- Candidates located in Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Wilmington, or Asheville, North Carolina are preferred.
