Software Engineer

About the Role

Boom Supersonic is seeking exceptional, early-career Software Engineers to build software that powers hardware development. You will embed directly within teams of test crews, design engineers, and technicians, experiencing their challenges firsthand and shipping code in your first week. This role is for individuals excited to learn hardware and tackle complex software problems attached to physical machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Own a defined piece of your team's software with accountability for the outcome.
• Sit with users (engineers, technicians, test crews) to build what they need.
• Ship code within your first week and a tool in daily use by the end of your first month.
• Work with AI as a first-class part of the job, including agents as coding partners and interfaces designed for agents and humans.
• Iterate quickly: identify issues, fix them, and move to the next problem.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Experience shipping software with real users, building critical systems, or completing work that is typically seen years into an engineering career.
• Preference for shipping imperfectly now over polished later.
• Desire for ownership and energy from harder problems.
• Ability to find requirements by observing user struggles rather than waiting for specifications.
• Interest in test stands and factory floors over traditional sprint planning.
• Excitement to learn the hardware side of development.
• Comfortable with not knowing the answer immediately and proactive in finding solutions.

Work Location

• Internships require 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters: 6803 S Tucson Way, Centennial, CO 80112.

Compensation

• Base Salary Range: $108,000 - $137,000 per year.
• Actual salaries will vary based on location, experience, and performance.
• Total rewards package includes long-term incentives/equity, flexible PTO, and other benefits.

ITAR Requirement

• Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorizations to conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR).
• Candidates must be eligible to access export-controlled information and technology.
