About the Interaction Design, School of Design
The Interaction Design (IxD) Department believes in the value of working with colleagues from different disciplines, backgrounds, and experiences for better learning and idea generation. They embrace approaches from art, science, engineering, design, and the humanities. The learning approach is collaborative, fostering an environment for exploration, analysis, risk, and failure. They utilize an iterative cycle of making, generating, criticizing, and abstracting, with a focus on idea development and refinement. AI is treated as an approach to be designed with, interrogated, and held to account. The goal is to train 21st-century professionals with practical and critical understanding of technology (including AI and machine learning), informed by purpose, ethics, and critical examination of the status quo.
