About the Role
- This is a co-op position for the 2027 Summer/Fall session.
- The role is Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA, United States.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Salary Range: 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to Software Requirements, Design, Code, and Verification of the cockpit display system’s graphics server.
- Understand Collins Aerospace processes related to software development and verification and apply them to current projects.
- Work with desktop computer in an office environment and with target hardware in an engineering lab.
- Identify the root cause of moderate to complex software issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools.
- Clearly summarize encountered technical software issues to project leadership in a timely fashion.
- Work collaboratively within a team that is part of multi-large systems.
- Participate in the full life cycle development of DO-178 DAL A certified software.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- C, C++, and/or Python
- Familiarity with real-time operating system concepts
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline.
- Must be actively enrolled through the completion of the co-op session.
- Demonstrated interest in embedded software solutions.
- Demonstrated interest in board-level device drivers.
- Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle.
- Energetic and proactive self-starter.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
