About the Role

- Understand the psychology behind clicks, curiosity, emotions, facial expressions, colours, contrast, and visual hierarchy.
- Transform podcast topics and conversations into visually engaging thumbnail concepts.
- Create designs that stand out among competing videos on YouTube.
- Collaborate with the content and editing team to develop strong visual concepts for each episode.
- Design supporting creatives for YouTube and social media as required.
- Stay updated with YouTube thumbnail trends, successful creators, and evolving design styles.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- A strong portfolio showcasing your best graphic design work, particularly YouTube thumbnails.
- A clear understanding of what makes a thumbnail clickable, not just aesthetically pleasing.
- The ability to communicate a video’s core idea through a single image.
- Strong skills in composition, typography, colour theory, image manipulation, and visual storytelling.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to translate ideas into powerful designs.
- Familiarity with Photoshop and other professional design tools.
Qualifications
- Experience designing thumbnails for podcasts, interviews, educational content, or personal brands is a plus.
- Your portfolio matters more than your certificates. We want to see designs that demonstrate your creative thinking, understanding of audience psychology, and ability to make people curious enough to click.
- If possible, share examples of thumbnails you have designed along with any available performance results or a brief explanation of the thinking behind your designs.
