Forward Deployed Software Engineer, New Grad
FDE Times
About the Role
Palantir builds software for data-driven decisions and operations, empowering partners in areas like developing drugs, forecasting supply chain disruptions, and locating missing children. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role is a commitment to the outcome, embedding engineers directly with customers to tackle their most pressing challenges. As an FDE, you will be at the intersection of problems and technology, shaping solutions where they matter most. FDEs embed themselves in the customer's reality until the problem is theirs, building past product limitations and deviating from formulas to solve unique challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy software and AI to solve mission-critical problems in high-stakes operations.
- Work in small, high-trust teams and own projects end-to-end, from initial customer conversations to shipping impactful products.
- Embed with the customer, navigate chaos, and understand consequences, with real ownership.
- Collaborate with engineers on architecture and design decisions.
- Wrestle with data at scale that demands invention.
- Build custom applications, LLM workflows, and production solutions tailored to specific customer needs.
- Own relationships with stakeholders, from users to executives.
What We Value
- The drive to solve customer problems, including:
- Going where needed most: Expect 25–50% travel.
- Agency: Continuous learning, making decisions with incomplete information, and proactive initiative.
- Embracing ambiguity: Operating effectively in mixed technical and non-technical teams, adapting to shifting objectives, user pushback, and iterative solutions.
- Intrinsic motivations: Solving hard technical problems (data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks) for outcome achievement.
- Ruthless goal orientation: Pushing past, rewriting, or discarding existing product boundaries and limitations.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar.
Qualifications
- An engineering degree, preferably in fields like Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science.
- Must be graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
Applications require an updated resume/CV in PDF format and thoughtful responses to application questions.
