About the Role

Job Title: Medical Technologist I - General Lab

Facility: DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital

Location: Detroit, Michigan

Employment Type: Full Time

Shift: Night (10:30 PM - 7:00 AM), includes rotating weekends, holidays, and blood banking.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens.
• Analyze test results and prepare samples for testing.
• Calculate test findings and maintain records.
• Prepare and determine the validity of solutions, reagents, media stains, and various materials.
• Process and test all types of laboratory specimens.
• Review and report lab results.
• Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent.
• Qualifications must meet criteria for High Complexity testing as defined by CLIA regulations (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491).
• Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS) within 12 months of hire.
• Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES, or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• Licensure, as required by State.

Qualifications

• Analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results.
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with all areas of physician offices.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate various types of laboratory equipment.
• Visual acuity to closely examine specimens.
• Prefer 6 months to 1 year medical laboratory technologist, clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.

Bonus

• $15,000 Sign-on Bonus, with required relevant experience.
