About the Role
The incumbent in this position will work under the direction of the Section Manager. This requires caring for children from the ages of six (6) months of age through eighteen (18) years of age.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a safe environment
- Changing of diapers/pull-ups
- Feeding infants
- Calming upset children
- Communicating with the Section Manager and Director regarding:
- Disciplinary action above 'time out'
- Safety issues
- Ideas for improving the children's area
- Ill children
- Children with continued bad behavior
- Children crying uncontrollably
- Keeping the area clean
Additional duties may be added and section amended at any time with administration approval.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Licensure: NA
- Certifications:
- Infant and Child CPR
- First Aid - Must complete within the first 90 days of employment through Mercy
- Other:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Good oral, auditory and visual skills.
- Must be able to calm upset children, use re-direction tactics.
- Must be capable of interpreting needs of children, interpret complex instructions and demonstrate high-level cognitive skills.
