Specialist Software Engineering BUILD Program

About the Role

The Acuity Inc. BUILD program is a two-year rotational experience designed to develop high-potential early career talent into impactful professionals through hands-on experience. BUILD participants rotate to a different functional area every six months to build business acumen and skill proficiency. Upon completion of BUILD, participants will have developed broad business understanding, functional expertise, and the professional skills needed to contribute in future career opportunities across Acuity.

• This role starts employment on July 12, 2027.
• Works hybrid from the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering Specialists rotate within functional areas, combining individual interests with current business needs to explore areas including:

• Software Development:
• Front-end (React or Similar)
• Back-end (C#, node.js, etc.)
• Embedded (C++, etc.)
• Dev-Ops & SRE (pipelines, containers and Services, observation)
• DevOps (CI/CD)
• Cloud Software
• SRE
• Software Quality Assurance or Test Automation

BUILD Program Activities

BUILD participants also participate in personal growth activities to enhance business acumen, including:

• Specialized onboarding for all participants.
• One-on-one mentorship from a Software Engineering leader.
• Social and networking events.
• Frequent opportunities to collaborate with program peers.
• Leadership report-out meetings.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science or a related degree.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Availability to travel based on business needs (up to 20%).

Qualifications

• Leadership experience influencing change, people, and processes is highly preferred.
• Team-oriented with a drive to take the initiative is highly preferred.
• Less than two years of related work experience is highly preferred.
