Digital Media Intern (In-Person) Fall 2026)

About the Role

WKRG-TV / wkrg.com in Mobile, AL is seeking a Digital Media Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This is an in-person, unpaid internship. Students requiring academic credit will receive priority. Interns are responsible for their own transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and work with WKRG's Digital Content Team.
• Gain skills in writing, search engine optimization, and live streaming.
• Develop visual communication skills by selecting and designing graphics for articles on WKRG.com.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Writing: Basic working understanding of AP style & standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
• Meeting Deadlines: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility.
• Beneficial (not required):
• Video Editing: Familiarity with timeline-based software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• Video Acquisition: Ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on a phone or camera.

Qualifications

• This is a highly selective internship.
• Students majoring in journalism, social media, communication arts, digital marketing, and similar fields are encouraged to apply.
• The internship experience could strengthen candidates for full-time positions upon graduation.
• Interns will broaden their understanding of writing for a news website, boost journalism skills, and learn about the media industry.
• Interns will improve craft and presentation skills applicable to their course of study and intended career.
• Interns will depart with professional work samples for their portfolio.
• Interns will develop industry contacts for mentoring and career connections.

• Internship End Date: On or before Friday, December 18, 2026
• Group Internship Orientation: August 2026 (via Video Conference Call, Day/Time TBD)
