DevOps Engineer

About the Role

Join Barclays as a DevOps Engineer to spearhead the evolution of infrastructure, cloud platform capabilities, and deployment pipelines, driving automation, reliability, and operational excellence. You will harness modern DevOps and cloud-native practices to build and manage robust, scalable, and secure delivery platforms, ensuring seamless and compliant delivery of digital solutions across non-production and production environments. As a senior engineer, you will combine deep DevOps expertise with hands-on engineering, partnering closely with development and platform teams, owning delivery outcomes end-to-end, and ensuring production readiness through strong controls, observability, and governance. The role is based in Pune.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of systems, platforms, and technology.
• Ensure availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
• Resolve, analyze, and respond to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
• Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
• Monitor and optimize system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Hands-on creation of GitLab pipelines for Java & Angular/React based applications.
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, and related Containerization technologies.
• Hands-on expertise in YAML, Go, Groovy, Shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with setting up Alerting & Monitoring Tools (Elastic Search, Graphana, Observe, App Dynamics, etc.).

Additional Highly Valued Skills

• Integration of CI with Vulnerability Scanning (Wiz), Prisma, and Code Analysis (SonarQube) tools.
• Knowledge around CHEF & Jenkins.
• Management of non-production environments, across containerized apps, Linux, and Windows.
• Raising change records and liaising with infrastructure, middleware, and platform engineering teams.
