About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will act as a liaison between clients and Actionboard's platform. You will gain an in-depth understanding of client businesses, identify their needs, design data structures, build applications on the platform, and ensure successful integration into their daily operations. You will also collaborate with experienced developers on smaller tasks, debugging, and fixes.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand business challenges and technical requirements, translating them into actionable technical plans.
• Design data schemas, define entity relationships, and establish appropriate schemas for each application.
• Develop applications on the platform, including data models, forms, workflows, reports, dashboards, and business logic.
• Deconstruct complex requirements into manageable components, ensuring data integrity, application performance, and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve the root cause of issues, from source data to end-user interfaces, with available support.
• Conduct thorough testing of features and edge cases to prevent client-facing problems.
• Assist senior developers with assigned tasks, investigations, and bug fixes.
• Document application workflows, data models, and system changes.
• Provide feedback from client engagements to the product team.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 0–1 year of experience; freshers are welcome.
• Foundational knowledge of programming, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• Basic understanding of databases, including SQL, tables, relationships, and schema design.
• Aptitude for problem-solving by breaking down issues into smaller steps and asking clarifying questions.
• Ability to learn new tools independently and adapt to feedback.
• Persistence in problem-solving until issues are resolved.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Capacity to work full-time from the Chennai office.

Good to Have

• Hands-on experience with any programming language.
• Basic knowledge of web applications and APIs.
• Prior use of Git, a debugger, or testing methodologies.
• Experience from college projects, internships, or personal projects.
