Manager Trainee

About the Role

This role is designed for individuals looking to gain knowledge and experience required for promotion to management or supervisory roles. You will shadow employees and rotate through various departments to observe, learn, and perform responsibilities, gaining industry knowledge and understanding functional processes and practices. This is considered an entry-level operations management position where company training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow assigned employees/management to learn and perform assigned duties to become familiar with company processes and procedures.
• Receive training and perform duties in all operational areas, including: yard operations, millwork, production, dispatch/scheduling/delivery, safety, sales, finance, and human resources.
• May participate in the development of operating budgets and capital expenditure recommendations to meet operational and financial goals.
• Participate in and complete assigned training programs.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service skills (face-to-face and telephone).
• Good mathematical aptitude.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills, including tact and influencing with internal and external contacts.
• Good computer aptitude, particularly with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP applications.

Work Environment & Physical Activity

• Work performed on company and customer sites, involving driving to customer locations.
• Subject to typical office environments and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
• May involve walking on uneven ground at potential customer construction sites.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
• May be required to perform specific tasks involving climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
• Noise level is usually moderate.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Previous selling experience is helpful.
