About the Role

The Junior Business Development Specialist is a visible, community-focused relationship builder who represents Value Dry throughout the markets we serve. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys people, thrives in a dynamic working environment, and is energized by being out in the community. This is not a high-pressure sales role. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hardworking, highly trainable, and able to build trust naturally. This individual will strengthen referral partnerships, develop new relationships, create opportunities through networking, and connect homeowners with trusted resources. Success requires consistent follow-through, curiosity, authentic relationship building, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Value Dry consistently in the community through networking groups, chambers of commerce, industry associations, business events, ribbon cuttings, community events, and other relationship-building opportunities.
  • Develop authentic relationships with referral partners, including restoration companies, plumbers, real estate professionals, home inspectors, contractors, property managers, and other home-service professionals.
  • Manage and grow existing referral partner accounts through regular communication, in-person visits, one-to-one meetings, thoughtful follow-up, introductions, and ongoing support.
  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities through prospecting, referrals, community involvement, and consistent field activity.
  • Plan, coordinate, host, and attend partner events, educational presentations, lunch-and-learns, office visits, and facilitate internal partner spotlights that keep Value Dry and its capabilities top of mind.
  • Serve as a trusted connector by helping customers and partners with reputable resources for needs outside Value Dry's scope of work.
  • Generate qualified referral opportunities by listening and recognizing potential basement waterproofing, crawlspace encapsulation, foundation repair, sump pump replacement and system maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate partner, prospect, referral, and follow-up information in the company's CRM to manage priorities and measure results.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, scheduling, and leadership to share field insights, support company initiatives, and ensure a strong experience for partners and customers.
  • Support outreach and marketing efforts, including partner communications, newsletters, social media content, presentations, educational materials, and community-focused campaigns.
  • Maintain flexibility in a dynamic schedule that includes local travel, occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends, and, when trained and requested, occasional inspections or self-generated sales opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, community engagement, relationship management, hospitality, home services, nonprofit work, recruiting, events, or other people-centered roles is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred, but relevant professional and life experience will also be considered.
  • A genuine love of people and a natural ability to make others feel comfortable, heard, and valued.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Confidence to start conversations, make introductions, speak to small and large groups, and follow up professionally are required disciplines.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to manage a changing calendar, multiple relationships, follow-up commitments, and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field while remaining collaborative, accountable, and connected to the internal team.
  • Willing and able to learn Value Dry's services, recognize common waterproofing and foundation concerns, and communicate solutions accurately without relying on high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Comfortable using CRM platforms, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and other basic business technology (Salesforce experience is helpful but not required.)
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel throughout the assigned market.
  • Ability to attend occasional early-morning, evening, and weekend events based on business and community needs.
  • A demonstrated history of initiative, follow-through, strong work ethic, and building positive professional relationships.

Desired Personal Traits

  • Warm, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about meeting and helping people.
  • Positive, energetic, coachable, and eager to learn; receives feedback well and applies it quickly.
  • Hardworking, self-motivated, and consistent, even when the day changes or results take time to develop.
  • Authentic and relationship-driven, with the ability to build trust without coming across as overly salesy or transactional.
  • Comfortable walking into a room, starting a conversation, and representing Value Dry with confidence, professionalism, and good judgment.
  • Creative, resourceful, team-oriented, and dependable, with the initiative to recognize opportunities, solve problems, support others, and act with integrity and personal accountability.
