Junior Java Developer

About the Role

NovaCruitix is seeking a Junior Java Developer with 0–2 years of experience to help develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications. You will work alongside experienced developers, contribute to backend services and REST APIs, and build your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies. Relevant internship, academic, and personal project experience will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Java applications with guidance from senior developers.
• Help build backend services and REST APIs using Spring Boot.
• Write SQL queries and support database integration.
• Troubleshoot issues, fix bugs, and write unit tests.
• Participate in code reviews, maintain documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Core Java, object-oriented programming, collections, and exception handling.
• Basic knowledge of Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Understanding of REST APIs and HTTP concepts.
• Familiarity with SQL and a relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Basic experience with Git and version control.
• Practical experience building a Java application or backend project.
• Willingness to learn and apply feedback.

Qualifications

• Relevant internships and academic or personal projects are welcome.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to Hibernate or JPA.
• Familiarity with Maven, JUnit, or Mockito.
• Understanding of microservices and CI/CD concepts.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Docker.
• A GitHub portfolio or relevant project demonstration.
