About the Role
The Steel Fabricator will be responsible for cutting, shaping, and assembling steel components according to technical drawings, specifications, and work orders. This is a full-time, on-site role.
Key Responsibilities
- Measuring and marking materials.
- Using hand and power tools for cutting and grinding.
- Fitting and aligning steel parts.
- Preparing materials for welding and installation.
- Checking finished work for accuracy and quality.
- Following safety procedures.
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborating with supervisors, welders, and other fabrication team members to meet project deadlines.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong Metalworking skills, including cutting, shaping, and fitting steel components.
- Skills in Hand Tools such as measuring tools, chisels, files, and manual cutting equipment.
- Skills in Grinding and Power Tools, including safe and effective operation of grinders, drills, and cutting machines.
- Skills in Forklift Operation or similar material-handling equipment for moving and positioning steel materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication sketches, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards, use of personal protective equipment, and safe material handling practices.
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements, calculations, and material estimates.
- Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
Qualifications
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and work with heavy materials, and to work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Previous experience as a steel fabricator, fitter, or in a related metal fabrication role is preferred.
