Cinematographer & Video Editor

About the Role

Weddings by CARVAAN is seeking a Cinematographer & Video Editor on a contractual basis for a hybrid role. The ideal candidate understands visual storytelling and can transform real wedding moments into intimate, cinematic, and timeless films.

Key Responsibilities

• Film wedding ceremonies, candid moments, couple portraits, and behind-the-scenes stories.
• Create documentary-style wedding films, highlights, teasers, and social media reels.
• Collaborate with the creative team to translate each couple’s story into a distinct visual narrative.
• Edit footage with a strong understanding of pacing, music, sound design, color grading, and emotional storytelling.
• Work with natural light, available light, and camera movement to create visually compelling sequences.
• Travel for wedding assignments as required.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Good Behaviour & Professional Ethics - Non-Negotiable
• Own Video Editing Setup
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent editing software.
• Familiarity with Sony FX Camera Systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in cinematography and video editing, preferably in weddings, documentaries, music videos, or narrative filmmaking.
• A strong visual sense and an understanding of composition, lighting, movement, and framing.
• A good understanding of color correction, color grading, and sound design.
• The ability to work under pressure while remaining attentive to details and people.
• A collaborative mindset, reliability, and a genuine passion for filmmaking.

Brownie points:

• Experience with FX Camera Systems.
• Understanding of capturing candid moments without making subjects feel conscious.
• Enjoy experimenting with unconventional frames, transitions, visual motifs, and storytelling techniques.
