About the Role

This position is located at the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo, Iowa. This is an armed position with a fixed schedule of 3-2-2-3 (every other weekend off), operating from 1800 to 0600.

Job Overview

• Patrols and inspects property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, terrorism, and illegal activity.
• Protects company investments, enforces laws on the property, and deters criminal activity.
• Utilizes radio and telephone communications to call for assistance from police, fire, or emergency medical services.
• Writes comprehensive reports outlining observations and activities during the assigned shift.
• May interview witnesses or victims, prepare case reports, and testify in court.

Key Responsibilities

• Alarm Station operation: Provide real-time alarm monitoring, assessment, and reaction to ensure physical security and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct security patrols.
• Search vehicles, personnel, and packages.
• Complete required documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Must not have any felony convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability.
• Must be able to perform physical duties and withstand exposure to inclement weather.
• Vision correctable to 20/20 (Snellen).
• Ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green.
• Hearing loss not to exceed 30 db.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Candidates must satisfy all company and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) security requirements and pre-employment physical.
• Candidate must be a minimum age of 21 for this armed position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the military police, law enforcement, private armed security, or an AA degree in law enforcement is preferred.
