Beer Sales Trainee

About the Role

Beechwood Sales and Service is a family-owned and operated beer distribution company seeking a Full Time Sales Trainee in Madison, WI. This hands-on role will provide valuable knowledge and experience in the beverage and distribution industry. You will be developed and mentored to become familiar with various sales and operations roles within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Ongoing sales team support for sale, distribution, and placement of all award-winning Beechwood Craft, Import, NA, Seltzer, and Spirit Brands.
• Develop and maintain effective customer relations and promote the good will of the company.
• Train, learn, and apply key strategic selling skills in preparation for future sales route work.
• Showcase learned selling skills in sales route relief work as needed.
• Learn proper merchandising of select accounts and key Craft brands with engaging promotional design and signage in concert with fellow sales team direction and collaboration.
• Ensure that all product is rotated and code policy is followed.
• Coordinate and build exciting and engaging floor displays at select key accounts.
• Assist with customer inquiries regarding our extensive portfolio as well as company policies.
• Maintain a regular schedule of weekly appointments with accounts in assigned area.
• Support our key brands and fellow staff at supplier events or bar promotions as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Critical Physical Demands

• Use of hand and foot controls for driving.
• Walking and climbing stairs.
• Two-handed lifting, handling, and carrying of cases from floor to overhead levels on a frequent basis.
• Pushing and pulling a hand truck and/or cart on level and inclined surfaces on a frequent basis.
• Sustained squatting, kneeling, and/or bending while handling products.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate business equipment including, but not limited to, computer, telephone, and adding machine.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Knowledge of legal requirements regarding the sale and delivery of alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge of Beechwood’s beer portfolio.
• Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
• Superior organization skills with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with an emphasis in a business or marketing related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Enthusiastic, high energy, and self-motivated individual with a desire to succeed.
• Sales and customer service experience required.
• Must be able to lift, move and place cases of product weighing up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
