Retail Sales Associate / Key Holder

About the Role

Lovepop designs intricate, hand-assembled pop-up cards and paper sculptures. Our mission is to create one billion magical moments, and our retail stores are where most of them happen. We’re hiring a Key Holder for our Hudson Yards location, someone who can open and close the store, lead by example, and turn an ordinary afternoon into a great sales day.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

• Greet customers as soon as they walk through the door with a friendly, welcoming demeanor.
• Listen to customers’ needs and preferences, tailoring your interactions to make their visit memorable.
• Encourage customers to return by sharing new products, upcoming promotions and our loyalty program.

Product Enthusiasm

• Actively show customers how our products work and the stories behind them.
• Share your own excitement for Lovepop products, creating contagious energy in the store.
• Provide detailed information about product features and benefits, and answer any question with confidence.

Sales Goals

• Approach customers proactively and help them find products they love.
• Identify opportunities to suggest additional products that complement a customer’s initial selection.
• Review sales targets and performance regularly, adjusting your approach as needed to hit them.

Customer Assistance

• Listen closely to customers’ needs and offer thoughtful product recommendations.
• Address any concerns or questions so every customer leaves satisfied.
• Make sure customers know how to care for their purchase and leave feeling valued.

Store Presentation

• Maintain attractive, well-organized displays that capture customer interest.
• Ensure the store is clean, tidy and inviting at all times.
• Replenish stock regularly so customers always find their favorite products.

Shift Leadership & Team Spirit

• Open and close the store, set the floor for the day and close it out correctly.
• Support your teammates in achieving store goals and building a positive work environment.
• Take proactive steps to address challenges and improve the customer experience.
• Bring a positive, enthusiastic attitude to every shift and inspire others to do the same.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• This is a Key Holder position.
• Ability to stand for 4–8 hour shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to handle inventory counts accurately.

Qualifications

• A warm, outgoing presence that makes customers feel welcome within seconds.
• Strong communication skills and a real talent for storytelling.
• Self-motivation — you make the day happen rather than waiting for it to.
• Reliability: you arrive on time, ready to lead, and your team can count on you.
• Retail, sales, hospitality or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
